University for Applied Sciences professor Dr. Reinhold Schneider is Austria’s first president of the International Federation for Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering
Dr. Reinhold Schneider became President of the IFHTSE on January 1st. He is the first Austrian president in the over forty-year history of the federation. The election of Dr. Schneider underlines the importance of Austrian companies such as Aichelin, Böhler, Rübig and voestalpine, which have an excellent worldwide reputation as suppliers of heat treatment systems and special steels.
Dr. Schneider was head of the research department of the stainless steel specialist Böhler and has been head of the committee for heat treatment and hardening technology of the Austrian Society for Metallurgy and Materials (ASMET)
Department of Materials Engineering:
At the Faculty of Engineering in Wels he built up the department for materials engineering in the degree course Metals and Plastics Engineering and is involved in many research projects in local industry. He is known worldwide as an Invited Lecturer or guest professor. In future he will be devoting himself more to research, development and innovation and will be the first ‘research professor’ at the university.
