Sorptive Conditioning of Electric Vehicles
Project duration:
03/2018 - 02/2019
Project partner:
Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH
Industriewissenschaftliches Institut
Funding agency:
BMViT, FFG
Programme:
Future Mobility
The application of sorption technology in electric vehicles can be used for a traction battery-independent and comparatively inexpensive method of vehicle interior air conditioning and thus helps to increase the range and customer benefit. The aim of the exploratory procedure is to determine whether the high (experimentally proven) power densities for heating and possible cooling services are compatible with the demand profile of electric vehicles, or what technical possibilities exist for adaptation. Experimental studies with suitable reactors and substance combinations, modelling and simulation serve to distinguish the operating conditions. The market potential for this technology is collected and suitable project partners in the supply chain for pure electric vehicles in the Austrian supplier industry are identified.
