Production and Operations Management Research Center Steyr Campus
This research focus is on the more efficient design of production processes. Specifically, possibilities for inventory reduction, cycle time reduction and increase in delivery reliability are developed. In the field of production planning and control, researchers examine, evaluate and compare different existing systems and newly developed concepts. Self-developed simulation models offer the possibility of analyzing relationships between external influences or disturbances and the target characteristics in complex production systems.
As a new process for optimizing the assembly process in the planning phase efficiently and ergonomically, virtual and mixed reality is applied and further developed. Above all the number of necessary prototypes in the development phase can be significantly reduced with this tool by tests on digital prototypes. Particularly in cooperation with company partners, methods and models are developed to improve the production planning as well as the environment.
Our research topics are
- Optimization of production planning and control
- Assistance systems for industrial processes
- Optimization of production processes
- Use bionic strategies to optimize production
