What we offer

The TIMed CENTER at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria is looking for partners from the science and business sector in collaboration with whom projects in the field of medical device technology will be carried out. In order to promote these cooperations, we offer access to our Core Facilities. These facilities are centralized, mutually usable resources for research and development. They include high-end-instruments, cutting-edge-technologies and state-of-the-art-methods, but also advice and services that support the solving of complex problems. In the six Core Facilities, which all have a different research focus, our partners can either conduct studies themselves or assign contract projects to our team.

Medical 3D-Nanolithography for Additive Manufacturing TIMed CENTER Core Facility

In the TIMed CENTER Core Facility "Medical 3D-Nanolithography for Additive Manufacturing" at the faculty Linz of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, biocompatible 3D-structures made of chemically functional polymers are produced. In this context, methods like multiphoton lithography and UV lithography are used. Both technologies enable researchers to manufacture 3D-structures at a micro- and even at a nanometer scale. Nanoscopic Characterization of Cellular Processes TIMed CENTER Core Facility

The TIMed CENTER Core Facility "Nanoscopic Characterization of Cellular Processes" is concerned with the biomolecular mechanisms that fields like biology and medicine based on. In this facility, high-resolution single molecule fluorescence microscopy is used to observe specific molecules in living cells, tissue and organisms as a whole. Dynamics and Interactions of Bio-Nano-Structures TIMed CENTER Core Facility

In the TIMed CENTER Core Facility "Dynamics and Interactions of Bio-Nano-Structures", protein dynamics, molecular interactions and conformation changes are examined. This takes place in real time and under physiological conditions. In addition to combined fluorescence and atomic force microscopy, force spectroscopy and ensemble methods are used to collect information that is necessary for generating a comprehensive molecular process model for the development of drugs. Medical Simulators TIMed Center Core Facility

In the TIMed CENTER Core Facility "Medical Simulators", researchers develop mixed-reality-simulators consisting of artificial anatomical structures, a computer model that simulates common imaging procedures and surgical instruments that are equipped with sensors. Bioactive Ingredients Research TIMed CENTER Core Facility

The TIMed CENTER Core Facility "Active Ingredients Research" at the campus Wels wants to establish phytamines as an alternative to conventional drugs. For that purpose, phytamines are not only identified and characterized, but also analyzed regarding their physiological effects. These analyses are conducted in in-vitro and in-vivo testing systems. The influence of herbal components and their ingredients are investigated on the level of biophysics, biochemistry as well as molecular and cell biology. More...

Bioinformatics and Image Processing TIMed CENTER Core Facility

The TIMed CENTER Core Facility "Bioinformatics and Image Processing" creates the basis for the administration and integration of biological data. Furthermore, various types of analyses for these special data are developed. In order to automize the analysis of biomedical and molecular biological data, algorithms and intelligent software systems are written at the faculty Hagenberg of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria.
